Formula E: The all-electric series makes its return to Indonesia after a one-year hiatus

Having last raced in Indonesia back in 2023, the all-electric single-seater series, the FIA Formula E World Championship is set to return to the Indonesian capital of Jakarta this weekend.
Indonesia first joined the Formula E’s schedule in 2022 – becoming the fourth Asian nation to host an E-Prix, after China, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
The Indonesian capital of Jakarta will now make a return to the Formula E calendar after a one-year absence, hosting a single race this weekend.
The circuit has a length of 1.47 miles, features a total of 18 turns, and the venue is famed for its heat and humidity. The layout has a mixture of low, medium and high-speed corners, making it a real test in every aspect of car performance.
The heat can also be a huge factor, both in terms of the physical test for the drivers with soaring temperatures in the cockpit, but equally for the teams to keep the powertrain and other components on the car cool, and in an optimal operating window.
As a single-header, the format is two practice sessions – one on Friday evening, another on Saturday morning – before the all-important qualifying session to set the grid.
Commenting on the Indonesian round, FIA Head of Championship for Formula E, Pablo Martino stated: “We’re delighted to be back in Jakarta after the successful E-Prixs staged there in 2022 and 2023, and we have been working closely with both Formula E Holdings and the Indonesian ASN to make the forthcoming event the best yet.
“At the same time, we will continue investing in the growth of motorsport in Indonesia. We have planned specific sessions with the Clerk of the Course, the local marshals, the recovery teams and everybody working in Race Control to fine-tune the racing procedures ahead of the race weekend, with the ultimate goal of leaving behind a legacy in terms of motorsport knowledge and expertise that can subsequently be applied at local level for years to come.”
