Marko reveals the technical issue that has hindered Red Bull's performance so far in 2025

On the back of a tough start to the season, Red Bull's motorsport advisor Dr Helmut Marko has revealed the technical issues that have hindered the Milton Keynes-based outfit's performance so far in 2025.
Red Bull had endured a tough start to the season. Although the Austrian-British squad has already taken two victories courtesy of reigning champion Max Verstappen, the team was unable to challenge the field-leading McLaren outfit on a regular basis.
The team has collected a total of 162 points and currently sits fourth in the teams' standings behind McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari. Interestingly, Verstappen collected 155 points which means that only seven points came from the other side of the garage.
Explaining Red Bull's current struggles, Red Bull's motorsport advisor Dr Helmut Marko has revealed that the Austro-British team has so far struggled with the overall balance of its 2025 F1 car, the RB21.
"Because we've been seeing the same tendencies in the car for two years now. It jumps over curbs, has a tendency to understeer when turning, which then turns into oversteer.
"In other words, the balance on the rear axle isn't right. But if we're within a very narrow working window and the track suits us, like in Jeddah or Suzuka—Imola and Montreal weren't too bad either—then it's fine. But the working window is extremely narrow."
Pressed on whether Red Bull intends to introduce updates to its RB21 in the coming races, Marko has revealed that the Milton Keynes-based outfit is set to bring new parts to this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix.
"We're getting an update for Austria, which will then be further refined for Silverstone. But if that doesn't work, things will get difficult in the world championship. And it's not as if things aren't difficult enough already."
