Podium results just a matter of time - Heidfeld

By on

Nick Heidfeld is currently the most successful German driver in Formula One. Following his remarkable overtaking manoeuvre against reigning World Champion Alonso in Bahrain, the BMW Sauber F1 Team driver teems with self-confidence and has consequently adjusted his season goals.

The first three rounds of the 2007 season are over, and Heidfeld delivered an impressive streak of success: the German secured three consecutive fourth places, thus just missing a podium finish in every race of the season so far. In the Bahrain GP, he impressed both experts and motor racing enthusiasts alike by passing Fernando Alonso on lap 32. "This was something very special," says Nick. "I've had loads positive feedback from many people since then."

For Nick, it is now just a matter of time until he secures his first podium finish this year. "Currently, there are just four cars that are quicker than ours: the two Ferraris and the two McLarens," he says, which means that now his team's main goal is defending third position in the Constructors' Championship.

On 13th May, the Spanish Grand Prix, to be held at Barcelona, will represent the next chance of scoring points for Nick, who is going to celebrate his 30th birthday three days before the fourth round of the 2007 season. "It's a birthday that makes me fully aware of the fact that the life I truly love to live passes far too quickly."
