The BMW Sauber F1 Team only requires six more points to equal the total amount the team collected during the entire last season. BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen is satisfied with the performances so far.

With their fifth and sixth places, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld contributed a further seven world championship points to the point tally of the BMW Sauber F1 Team so far. With a total of 30 points, the team has cemented its solid third place in the world championship classification.

"We have already collected 30 points - that is nearly as much as during the entire last season," BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen summarizes. "Additionally, we have been able to open up a substantial point gap to the team behind us." Following five Grands Prix, the gap to the fourth placed team in the constructors' championship - Renault - is now 14 points.

At the next Grand Prix, the race in Montreal in Canada, the BMW Sauber F1 Team could already equalise the total amount of points collected last year, when the newly founded team amassed 36 points in 18 races. Mario Theissen is confident that Nick and Robert will be able to collect points on the „Circuit Gilles Villeneuve": "Monaco has its own laws and its very own track characteristics. Montréal is a completely different matter," the BMW Motorsport Director confirms. "Our cars love to be let loose - and there are many long straights in Montreal. Therefore, we are entering that race with optimism."
