Schumacher on pole, Montoya just behind

Just may be incorrect, since Michael Schumacher had no hard time securing pole position today. The result at the end was a 0.6s lead over second placed man Montoya, and third placed Sato. Takuma's fellow BAR driver Jenson Button made a small mistake, which cost him about a second.

From the beginning of Schumacher's lap on, it was clear that he would take the provisional pole at that time. The Ferrari was behaving extremely well, and the six time champion drove seemingly relaxed towards the fastest time.

Montoya on the other hand did really everything he could to take a place on the first row, and drove to the limit, going further on the kerbs in some corners than anybody else did. The result was a second place, seemingly the best possible with his current Williams BMW.

The first BAR runner on the grid is Sato this time, who isn't even a tenth behind Montoya. Further on the grid are Trulli's Renault, who beat his teammate Alonso well. The Spaniard driving his home Grand Prix did not get any further than 8th, however posting a solid lap with no (big) errors.

Further down the grid are Barrichello, who seems not to feel very good in his F2004, Ralf Schumacher, again beaten by Montoya with a 0.6 second gap. Panis put his Toyota on 7th, in front of Alonso, Webber and Coulthard, who even beat Raikkonen by 0.8 seconds!
