Title in sight for Alonso

While Fernando Alonso remains calm and remarkably right with his views on this year's championship, his manager and team boss Briatore is eager to praise the effort of his youngster. With a 36 point lead over the Raikkonen the team looks set to have become championship winning in just 4 years.

Although the Spaniard has a reasonable gap to his competitors, Fernando is still careful with his pronunciations towards the media. Fernando Alonso: "There are a lot of races to go. But, for sure,
this gap is quite nice."

Alonso is aware that he can be the next to have technical problems at the following GP in Hungary. However Renault have run very reliably this season and were very competitive the last two events at the Hungaroring. It is just there that Fernando snatched his first victory in Formula One, two year ago in 2003.

Already since the GP of Imola and certainly since Spain where McLaren introduced a major aerodynamic update the British team have the fastest car of the field. The gap was close to 0.5s with Renault in Hockenheim. However, as Briatore pointed out it is important to keep the Renault very reliable and push further to keep competing for the top spot.
