Villeneuve about his last 2 weeks in Europe

Jacques Villeneuve reflects his last 2 races on European ground for the 2005 season. The Canadian is a happy man after grabbing another 3 points at a damp Spa-Francorchamps circuit. He seems to have found the joy of racing again as he gets to know his Sauber better.

"I am really happy with everything that has happened in the past week. It was really busy but overall, everything has been very positive. The race in Monza was good, and despite the fact that my engineer Gian-Paolo could not come due to personal reasons, we still managed to carry the previous week' s test performances through the race weekend. Of course, the results were still not exactly what I am aspiring for, but it's really the best we can do with the current car. In addition to this, the entire field finished the race - and it's an historic fact! - so we didn't benefit from any retirements this time. Going to Monza always brings back some memories from my early racing years and the food is great so it was a good weekend.

After a promotional day at the Adria circuit last Tuesday, we headed to Spa where the weather was, as expected, completely different - rain, fog and cold! But still, it's a pleasure going there because the track is so fantastic to drive on. Of course, Eau Rouge is still one of my favourite corners and I really enjoy the challenge of going through it flat out - for which you really have to force yourself to do! I was really disappointed with my qualifying time on Saturday - I made some mistakes in the second sector and I lost a few precious places on the grid. However, thanks to our strategy and a good tire choice, we managed to make the most out of the situation and score some points on Sunday, which I was really happy about…"

Villeneuve is now 13th in the driver's championship with one point more than his teammate Felipe Massa.
