Williams refuses BAR's £12million offer

Williams has reported that they have turned down a £12million offer from BAR Honda to release Jenson Button from his 2006 contract. A couple of days ago, the Brit said that negotiations were going well. Now it seems a different story for Button.

Jenson Button, who wanted to move to Williams at the start of this season only to be blocked by F1's Contract Recognition Board, is desperate to get out of his deal with Williams for 2006 and stay with BAR, who he believes can help him win the Championship title. However, Williams don't want to release him as the team has already signed sponsorship deals for next year based on the team having a British driver in their cars.

Sir Frank Williams did agree to talk with the 25-year-old and BAR in the hope of resolving the situation and according to reports, during those talks BAR offered Williams £12million to let Button go.
But F. Williams said no. Button is very dissappointed, but discussions continue.
