Heidfeld wants to return in Japan

Nick Heidfeld, the German driver of BMW Williams F1 Team, is still out with a fractured shoulder blade after a bicycle accident. Heidfeld plans to test at Jerez next week with Williams to see if he's able to make his return in Japan.

Nick Heidfeld "I knew pretty quickly that there would be no chance for Brazil, because I have cracked my right shoulder blade, but there isn't so much damage to my fingers. Some reports said I had broken bones in my left hand, but that's not true. My little finger is pretty sore, because it's still filled with blood, which is restricting the movement, but other than that, it's not too bad."

Quick Nick is hoping that he can return in the cockpit of his BMW Williams after the Brazilian Grand Prix.
"I think it will take more than two weeks to recover, but I'm hoping to test the car at Jerez after Brazil and see how I feel. That will allow us to make a judgement for the last two races."

Nick Heidfeld has been replaced at Monza, Spa and this weekend by Antonio Pizzonia. Heidfeld himself has signed a contract with BMW for next season. BMW has bought the Minardi team.
