GT: The latest info from AMuS:
“For Jeddah, the last layer of asphalt was laid last week !! Tilke thinks the track will be fine,
but everything else will look tentative. "
Blimey, will it even be cured? I imagine they have to use some special stuff out there because of the heat. But surely that's way too recent...
Singapore is 23 corners and Jeddah is 27, Abu Dhabi is 21, Baku and COTA 20, Sochi and Silverstone are 18.El Scorchio wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 3:48 pmI think it must. Possibly by a margin. If I recall correctly. Silverstone, Sochi, Singapore and Baku are probably up there as well?
Thanks! I didn't do too badly then. Is that the new layout of Abu Dhabi or the old one?nacho wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 7:31 pmSingapore is 23 corners and Jeddah is 27, Abu Dhabi is 21, Baku and COTA 20, Sochi and Silverstone are 18.El Scorchio wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 3:48 pmI think it must. I don’t think that I’ve ever heard of DRS overtakes being called exciting!!?El Scorchio wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 1:21 pmEspecially with detection zones 2 and 3 being almost right at the end of the previous DRS zones. If cars can follow close enough through the corner(s) between them there could be lots of opportunity for some exciting racing.
That is going to be really slippery if it has only just been laid down.
The thing that the DRS zones may make exciting is that it could be very hard to pull away. I see there being a lot of overtaking and re-overtakingStu wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 8:36 pmI don’t think that I’ve ever heard of DRS overtakes being called exciting!!?El Scorchio wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 1:21 pmEspecially with detection zones 2 and 3 being almost right at the end of the previous DRS zones. So you didn't find the last few laps in Bahrain this year exciting? Or the battle between Lewis and Max at Interlagos exciting? Because without DRS none of this would have happened at all.Stu wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 8:36 pmI don’t think that I’ve ever heard of DRS overtakes being called exciting!!?El Scorchio wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 1:21 pmEspecially with detection zones 2 and 3 being almost right at the end of the previous DRS zones. they can high pressure water blast the surface if it is cured, for every 10k (700 bar) water temp rises 30f above the water source. 40k (2800 bar) would be used as it would be 120f above the ambient source melting the oils and scarifying the surface.....
