ALO penalty incoming.

HAM was ahead, defo ALOs responsibility to provide the room
Mate, I'm a Hamilton fan and that is just not the case. Alonso was alongside and had every right to be there, pure desperation and idiocy from Lewis there.
Rules have been codified for overtaking, this isn’t me favouring one or the other. HAM was ahead at the apex, it’s a simple interpretation of the rules:

For overtaking outside of a corner

In order for a car being overtaken to be required to give sufficient room to an overtaking car, the overtaking car needs to have a significant portion of the car alongside the car being overtaken and the overtaking manoeuvre must be done in a safe and controlled manner, while enabling the car to clearly remain within the limits of the track.

When considering what is a ‘significant portion’, for an overtaking on the outside of a corner, among the various factors that will be looked at by the stewards when exercising their discretion, the stewards will consider if the overtaking car is ahead of the other car from the apex of the corner. The car being overtaken must be capable of making the corner while remaining within the limits of the track.
dude, you're totally TOTALLY OFF with the interpretation - Alonso gave ALL THE ROOM, he was even half on curb, and Hamilton just turned into him, so the only conclusion here is that Hamilton didn't give cars width space for Alonso

those rules DO NOT make the driver half a car behind to give the corner up completely, they still both race like a car is by their side, and the rules means that Alonso cannot push Hamilton off the track on exit or mid corner (like Rosberg did to Hamilton years back)

Seeing how that was a clean pitstop for Ferrari, don't know why they didn't leave him out for 1-2 more laps to clear Ricciardo... given the big gap between him and Vettel.

Oh Ferrari... just being Ferrari...

He was half a car in front. Please put your hatred of Hamilton aside and look at this objectively.

Everyone disagrees with you.
I’m not sure whats more funny. You ignoring any comments that don’t fit your narrative, or genuinely thinking the car who’s well in front doesn’t have priority.
Hamilton was still alongside ALO. You can't assume that the other driver will let you by, that would be against the spirit of racing

Can't wait for the "Perez is not allowed to win" comments. Look at that speed. Verstappen is peerless right now.

Nothing Alonso could have done. A silly mistake from Hamilton, but racing incident.

Agreed... considering Perez should be on the more durable tyre now, compared to Max... that pace advantage is scary. Barring any reliability, this is Max's win.

Uncharacteristic move from Hamilton, way too much risk. Would have easily gotten Alonso after a few laps anyway as usual. Russell seems to be hanging on pretty well so a good haul of points lost for the team.

The Red Bull is in a league of its own and Perez is terrible. Nearly putting Leclerc in the wall there.

Nonsense, if they came together room was not given; it’s v simple. One party is required to give space, not both. The instruction to the overtaker is to complete the move, safely.

The onus was on ALO, that’s the way the rules are written. Complain to the FIA if you don’t like it.

Priority doesn't mean you can squeeze the car on the inside. Alonso's front right tire was already on the right hand side kerb. Hamilton had to give 50 cm to Alonso, and everything would've been 🍑
Ironically max pulled the same move last year at Imola on ham. Difference is ham backed out
No one's bending over for Hamilton (as should be), while Alonso's made a habit of it if it's Max behind

Ham must've thought Alonso backed off. Sadly for him, it wasn't the case. I don't think he was trying to be malicious, it was just bad judgment.
Well, the next time someone like the kinds of Bottas will back off. Good move, pays off if he is next year in the WDC fight.

Penalty for Perez there. Didn't leave a car's width when he came back on line. But nothing will happen, of course.

I think the only thing that could potentially keep Charles in this race for a decent result is a Safety car... otherwise, cannot see him finishing any either than 5th.

Yeah the stewards are very lenient. Imagine they let go Hamilton despite the blunder.
