Like I said, Toto has completely lost the plot. I honestly think the fame and celebrity status have gotten to his head, it’s full of it. “Kimi and I are collectively making more mistakes because the car is more challenging to drive.”

So George basically is indicating, that an emergency meeting is being held at Mercedes, for not only the team, but the manufacturer. This was desperately needed since 2023. There is going to be some massive rearranging, and some engineers jobs are on the line.

Seriously, people who thought the team would do better without lewis pressuring them with his expectations are insane.

Sadly, their aero team will be bailed out with a monster PU courtesy of Mercedes HPP. George deserves a shot at the title

Witnessing those gaps in real life was heart breaking as a Merc fan. Merc needs new blood in the technical department.

They've certainly never gotten on top of these new regs, but they still have so much of the 'blood' from their dominating years that they have the potential to come roaring back in 2026 with less ground effect and new engines. As a Ferrari fan, they scare me as much as Mclaren.

I’m yet to be convinced that Mercedes can outdo McLaren in the aero and chassis dept, so that monster PU, if true, is no guarantee that George gets a shot. Hopefully he does though!!

Spa is a circuit where Hamilton was faster than Russell in every year that they were teammates. So I don't think Russell is that great on this track. Last year, Hamilton outqualified and out raced him until Merc double crossed Hamilton with Russell's 1 stop. post-race karma righted the wrong...That simply begs the question of how we know that Russell has extracted the full potential of this weekend? This was my biggest problem with Hamilton leaving this team. Russell had a habit of consuming the tires more quickly than Hamilton. The entire 2023 season was shocking and Abu Dhabi 2024 was only half a year ago where Hamilton came from the back rows of the grid and passed Russell on the last lap. I have never been able to get out of the back of my mind this nagging question of where Hamilton's race pace would put a Mercedes on Sunday.



Next week in Hungary I'll ask myself the same thing. Hamilton was a Hungaroring specialist. He had Russell's number every year on this track. Therefore I'm tempted to imagine Hamilton being a bit further up the road from wherever Russell manages to qualify and finish. Of course no one is touching Mclaren, but I suspect Spa and Hungary are not as bad for Mercedes as the current drivers will make it look.

What are you even on about? Hamilton has been a total flop these past few years, just like the rest of them. “Pressure from Lewis”? What pressure? The guy spent all of 2023 telling everyone “I told them to change the car”, they listened, changed it based on his feedback… and it was still a complete pile of crap.

Let’s be real: the last thing this team needs is Lewis and his washed-up diva energy dragging them down even more. He’s over at Ferrari failing miserably while pocketing 100 million a year for doing absolutely nothing. Dude’s living off past glory and hype. I swear, his PR team could sell sand in a desert best scammers in the game.

No amount of tyre management was going to put that W16 further than P6/P7. The car took P5 because Lewis was eliminated in Q1 during qualifying and was out of position as a result. Had that not happened, then Russell would have likely finished P6. The Merc this weekend was the 4th fastest car since the start of the weekend. If you hear Kimi’s interview, he mentioned that the car now has some bad handling characteristics that was either induced by setup or an upgrade. Judging Russells’ comments, I’m leaning on the latter.

- George Russell nears £30m-a-year Mercedes deal - with bosses accelerating talks amid Max Verstappen's Red Bull stance

George Russell is closing in on a £30million-a-year, multi-season deal to stay at Mercedes, Mail Sport can reveal.

Negotiations have accelerated over the last few weeks and a source close to the talks confirmed: ‘All the main points have been agreed.’

Finer details, such as the number of sponsor appearances Russell will undertake, are still to be ironed out.

Mercedes have pushed for a conclusion ahead of the summer break that follows this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.

But there may be too many obstacles for that to be accomplished by then, with Russell's management, supported by legal advisers, poring over the new contract.
