Will Honda bring an engine upgrade here?
I don't think so. It seems both Honda and Aston Martin are looking at long term solutions.

Cadillac have confirmed they will introduce a “substantial” upgrade package at the Austrian Grand Prix. I wonder if we will see a significant improvement from them this weekend which for me, looks unlikely.

Cadillac, red bull and Audi seem to be the ones with big upgrades

I don't expect much from Ferrari this weekend.
What’s your reasoning?
It's a power track. I expect McLaren to be Mercedes biggest challengers.
People say that but some very underpowered cars have won here over the years.

The forecast has changed a bit. It seems there might be scattered thunderstorm around on Sunday. It seems it might come at the end of the grand prix though.

There is so much potential for improvement for Cadillac. Their car doesn’t seem fundamentally flawed in any way, and they are so far behind that it will be easy to make progress. Gaining a second or more from a substantial upgrade is not out of the question. Since we are fairly far into the season, they can even choose to steal ideas from the top teams.

I’m really rooting for them to become good enough to start stealing points here and there.

Overtake mode available only for the pit straight, and not for T1-T3 & T3-T4 straights, even if they are longer.

I think you've misunderstood that document. The detection mode is at the final corner, but overtake mode, like at all other tracks, lasts for the entire lap.

I don't think you understand how overtake works. You get it for the whole lap.

Yeah, it activates for the whole lap.
I was under the impression it applied only until the first braking event post the detection.
My bad. Thank you for correcting me.

One of my favorite venues of the year in terms of the scenery. Really want to attend someday soon.
The scenery is beautiful. However the RBR just makes me sad because in the creation of this go-kart track the Oesterreich Ring was destroyed.

Which saved it as a venue for F1. Similar to Hockenheimring the old circuit just didn’t have the profile to support good racing with high downforce cars.

Fabulous track to drive, no doubt, but it would be dull as ditch water for modern F1. Heck, other than the crashes, the 87 Austrian GP was hardly thrilling - Mansell won by nearly a minute from Piquet and lapped everyone else at least once.

At least today's layout facilitates racing by allowing cars somewhere to overtake other than a chicane.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
