@ Richard_Leeds, I agree completely. That is very informative and post worthy, in contrast to simply stating something along the lines of 'Massa first one out", or "Red flag by Sutil".

Ferrari seem to be very proud of their floor, choosing such a form of transportation not to risk exposing it...

Snowy, where did you get that data?
I captured the live timing from A&T Williams. There is the possibility that a lap or two is missing but I reckon I got 90% of them. :)

I've just tracked down a Greek site that has a complete capture of all the live timing for session. Every lap. :D

Scroll down half the page:

Awesome, they list every car. I'd assumed a team only listed their own cars. I guess you've some sort of script running to catch the data?

A quick google found this feature in Excel .... http://www.labnol.org/software/tutorial ... xcel/1979/

edit - that only displays the data in the spreadsheet, you'd need a macro to refresh the page and then compile the timing data for each driver. Might have a play with it over the next day or so.

edit 2 - the timings on the Williams page aren't in a table, so the excel link won't work. I'll see if other sites are in a suitable format to be captured by Excel.

edit 3 - just seen your edit. That Greek site is awesome! Itdoesn't seem to link to excel, but a cut and paste is easy...

Pos Driver Team Time Laps
1. Vettel Red Bull-Renault (B) 1:22.593 99
2. Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes (B) 1:23.017 72
3. Massa Ferrari (B) 1:23.204 72
4. Buemi Toro Rosso-Ferrari (B) 1:23.322 79
5. de la Rosa BMW-Sauber (B) 1:23.367 76
6. M.Schumacher Mercedes GP (B) 1:23.803 111
7. Sutil Force India-Mercedes (B) 1:24.272 28
8. di Resta Force India-Mercedes (B) 1:25.088 74
9. Petrov Renault (B) 1:26.237 55
10. Barrichello Williams-Cosworth (B) 1:27.320 109
11. Fauzy Lotus-Cosworth (B) 1:31.848 76
12. Glock Virgin-Cosworth (B) 1:32.417 10
The quick and dirty of todays test from Autosport. Nice to see Vettel on top and Michael do most laps. Barichello was the other man doing more than 100 laps. The Lotus is solid and the Virgin is fragil. It is difficult to estimate where they will be in race trim but being almost 10 s off the pace in damp/wet conditions is not looking so encouraging.
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best .............................. organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)

It is odd to me that Virgin's lap numbers are so low. I wonder what's going on there.

Multiple hydraulic problems throughout the day, and they were only able to figure them out towards the end. Sadly enough all 10 laps were out-laps, just to see whether the problems were gone or not.

The article is the first one below the headline.

Minardi used to be 5-8 seconds of the pace, for a couple of years, and they didn't even need hydraulic problems to do it.

Yes. But that was the time where the engines were different let alone the cars. The power differences were x10 compared to today (ok probably a bit less). One could finish 6th being several laps down.
