Roost, were you also running linux with that? Or perhaps Mac OS X?roost89 wrote:agreed Gridwalker. I even tried Opera and it was still messed up.
I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 after properly destroying Vista >_< Didn't have a back-up disc, so downloaded a live disc. I am by no means good at using it though.Miguel wrote:Roost, were you also running linux with that? Or perhaps Mac OS X?roost89 wrote:agreed Gridwalker. I even tried Opera and it was still messed up.
If that didn't happen in windows, one wild guess would be using a screen resolution better than 96 dpi is messing some stuff. And yes, windows (XP, Vista or 7) sets itself to 96 dpi no matter what. Also, higher res works decently in Vista and 7, but sucks big time in XP. I haven't used live timing today, since I was watching the BBC feed full screen, so I can't help you.
Agreed sir. More information given to us in the live feed the better! As with HD I believe we'll have to wait a long time to see itESPImperium wrote:I belive that LG do have input on the program, and its roughly the same as the pit wall yes. But isnt if you know where im coming from. Its taken from the live feed, but is then taken and ran off a dedidicated server.roost89 wrote:Does LG provide the data and program?
The thing does need updated. Although it's roughly the same as what the pit wall gets.
Whats to stop them giving us what the pit wall get now, most people have computers with equivelent speed to what the teams use, and have access to good broadband connections now, that can handle the data.
Id like to see what the pit wall has on my laptop i use for live timing feeds.
Wouldn't it be awesome to have HD F1 with the ability to turn on live timing on a side of the screen? Kinda like the red button of the BBC. It would be good if you didn't depend on a wireless setup to properly follow F1 races. Today, when Vettel found issues, it was immediately apparent to all of us, and to the BBC commentary box, that it was important to see how the Vettel-Rosberg gap was decreasing. A battle for fourth! That was going to be settled in the last few laps! But the only way you got this info reliably was with the live timing. Had it worked properly, which I ignore.roost89 wrote:Agreed sir. Yup, that sector 2 time is not in the right column.gridwalker wrote:They have clearly changed something with the live timings for this season (maybe having something to do with the death of the standard-shredding IE6) : I have never had any major problems with live timing using Firefox on Ubuntu Linux before, but it has been displaying like this for the entire race :
It hasn't made the timings unreadable, but it has been REALLY annoying ...
Were you able to get live timing from XP? My father told me he had to re-register in order to access the live timing this year. I tried to access live timing on friday but was utterly unsuccessfull (64 bit linux)vinuneuro wrote:Even with the latest Java, live timing didn't work yesterday or today. This is with Windows 7. If I have the same problem again for the next race during practice, I'll have to dual-boot XP just for watching F1.
The script however looked fine unlike what some of you are reporting.

The registration may be quick, free and simple, but the service has gone to the dogs ...Formula1.com wrote:Date : Sat, Mar 13, 2010 at 2:27 PM

I recommend that we all raise the issues we have experienced : things will never improve unless we do so.
Hell, if we also make suggestions for improved data and/or downloadable apps with added functionality they might just listen!
After following F1.com live timing for the past 3 seasons now, and going into 2010 with the same expectations for a solid and improved service i was left a little bewildered.
I, as did many others who i have been reading on Internet forums i am on had many issues.
* Fastest lap was where 24th place, Karun Chandhock should have been, it was the Fastest Lap driver.
* I feel that after pit stops, the timing feed doesn't update until the lap is over, and not after every sector beam.
* The sector timings weren't aliened properly.
I also would like to see a few added functions:
* Last pit stop time
* Put sector times to 3 decimal places
* Lap Counter (Laps to go till the end)
Thank you for reading. Hope you can iron out some of the difficulties in the following races.
