Don;t they already use pneumatic jacks built into the cars in the Indycar series ? and all they do when they pit is connect an air supply to a port on the car & hey presto ! it's up in the air !

Just utilize the existing hydraulic system on board to power it, job done. could also be handy if you get stuck in the gravel traps.

Apologies. I will keep the rumours to my self from now on.

Anyone got any pics from first practice? I missed it and will likely miss the second one :/

With regard to hydraulic jacks, surely they are less reliable? Disregarding the mistake in Valencia, I don't remember seeing jacks fail that often, it's usually the people using them!

That would be quite illegal.

Why would this be unexpected? The updates (at least some of them aero-wise) are sitting in the paddock waiting to be evaluated, but they aren't going to waste their time trying to do that on a soaking wet race track. Be realistic :|

A stepped nose isn't a bolt on item. It needs a new chassis - either they have the new chassis there or they don't. As they don't appear to have run a stepped nose car today that would suggest that they don't have a stepped nose car to run this weekend.

Unless they are doing their own take on a stepped nose, of course...

One question: When did we saw the last aero update? Monaco the fins on the sidepod?

Well, they have the stepped nose front wing sitting in the garage (there are pictures of it), so they have either changed the chassis and it works with either style nose, or they are doing their version of a stepped nose that doesn't require a chassis change. Evidently it's not very clear at this point.

Yeah, the vortex generators on the sidepod were the last visual upgrade.

Did he mention the benefits?

Also Is it a solution Ferrari and red bull hav been using for many races now?
Yup its the same
Ferrari since 2004
Brawn/Merc since 2009

and this is the same system which was one of the issues in spygate

i don't think that they bring a stepped nose. The stepped nose is made to build a higher chassis, but McLaren is running the old chassis and i think it is not enough time to change the chassis.

And that the last visible update were the vortex generators is not good

From earlier on in the thread:Image

it certainly appears to be a stepped nose but with the chrome paint job, who knows!
