Yes but I'm pretty sure Rosberg and Hamilton have very similar setup whereas in practice Vettel and Webber had a very different setup. The point I was making was to gauge the ultimate pace of both cars - Hamilton clearly made mistakes in both sector 1 and 3 on his fastest lap and lost time, so Rosberg was a good reference of what he could have achieved without those mistakes.LionKing wrote:The problem is you can not put together Rosberg's and Lewis's sectors at Spa. If you put together his best 3 sectors in Q3 he comes out 1 second quicker than Vettel, after being 1.2 seconds quicker in sector 2. Even more impressive from Merc is that Rosberg was much quicker than Hamilton in sector 1 and 3 and if you put together the combined best sectors of Rosberg with Hamilton then Merc were potentially 2 seconds quicker than Red Bull. If it is the same conditions tomorrow Hamilton could very easily pull out a lead quickly.
In practice Vettel was much faster than Webber in S1 and S3 but 8 tenths slower in S2. Obviously the favorable pick and choose of these sectors is also not possible.
nobody appears to have any fresh inters in the top ten at leastSilverArrow10 wrote:Anyone know what tires are left for tomorrow for the teams, how many fresh inters? I assume everyone's good for both types of dry tires.
I believe everyone has 1 more fresh set.lebesset wrote:nobody appears to have any fresh inters in the top ten at leastSilverArrow10 wrote:Anyone know what tires are left for tomorrow for the teams, how many fresh inters? I assume everyone's good for both types of dry tires.

not sure that the sector times I have seen are correct , but from what I can seen the top 4 teams are set up as followstranquility2k4 wrote:Yes but I'm pretty sure Rosberg and Hamilton have very similar setup whereas in practice Vettel and Webber had a very different setup. Vettel said he's got 1 more and I think so do lotus and ferrari. Merc could possibly have 2 fresh sets as they apparently used only 1 in q1.dr. chaosGP wrote: Button says: “Looking forward to tomorrow, if the weather is wet, or changeable, as we expect it to be, then things could get tricky for all the front-runners, because I think we’ve all used our supply of inters.”
Take a look at Vettel's fastest Quali-lap at Hockenheim 2012 - miles off the white lines at the hairpin. Or Alonsos pole lap in the very same GP. Or Vettel's pole lap in Melbourne 2011.
Yeah thanks man. He quite did cut the corner, but I also think the bumpy ride over the kerbs hampered the speed. I don't really believe he gained with it, but you could argue either way. Good spot!mborsik wrote:at 0:55turbof1 wrote:Can we get the link to the video of the pole lap? Just a single frame isn't telling anything if he gained an advantage or not.
