I think he gained time, but whatever you can get away with if the stewards and Charlie are inclined to turn a blind eye. Turn 9 everyone was going out of the white lines all weeekend and also at stavelot many people were going all four out of the white lines. We didn't hear anything about them.

Felipe Massa on his lap got thtough that corner in the same way. Carbon Copy. I think it was due to track not giving enough grip there because in these damp conditions, nobody likes to go off track. It's to risky.

Do you, really? Even if he did, how about he gained by keeping the car on the track later at higher speed as opposed to correcting it and slowing or even losing it? Assuming it's not allowed.

Regardless if it is or not (I don't know nor care, is it?) you've got to love all the "yeah but" "gain or not" that suddenly appear, all the little circumstances that matter, turning the blind eye, Whiting letting get away with, even kerbs "slowing down",that's why they use them all the time - to lose time, all the splitting hair. Just when I thought after Hungary that the hard-headed consensus was that rules are rules and everything is to be taken literally. How about that  .

I think Vettel and Grosjean would disagree.

You have to have at least two wheels on the track (i.e. on the inside of the white line) which Lewis clearly didn't.

I am not sure why this wasn't being picked up by the stewards. Either they genuinely missed it or a lot of other drivers took Eau Rouge in a similar way on their fastest lap and it was decided the race would benefit if 5-10 drivers were not being given a grid penalty.

Nah man, when your god does something like this it's not a biggie, no, he actually lost time for cutting a corner more than usual (if that makes any sense).

Can't believe how people always find something to argue upon...He got wide about how 4 inches (?) in a wet eau rouge gaining how much? I doubt if this wasn't the pole lap that anyone would even try and bother to spot that.Vettel was constantly doing it in the past years,Alonso, etc. Seems that the 4 week break still has its leftovers.

All in all it was a very entertaining Qualifying session surely the one that u expect from Spa to deliver. The race should be interesting.

It's not about the gains (which if it was it was a very small one and didn't make the difference between pole or not), it's about some people's attitude.

Well, I would find it quite harsh too if he got a penalty for it.

Grosjean got a punishment for it last race, being only very narrowly off track. I'm quite glad that the stewards at Spa are a bit more lenient to it.

In the video, it was obvious that he downshifted exactly at the point that he went outside of the white lines. Perhaps that was enough for the stewards to consider it to not be punishable .
Yer.

Haha, frustrated man? This is nothing special, other drivers did the same (Massa).

Would be harsh if the stewards picked that up, while not picking up this one by Vettel (not that he gained anything, but as you said, at least 2 wheels must be within the white lines)

Wow, how mad are you at Romain Grosjean sucking at finishing races without being penalized or crashing someone out?

Its common, and in many ways natural.

If you are a fan of one driver you are going to defend them for things that you have a pop at their rivals for. Not justifying it, but it is just nature it would seem.

Tomorrow could be a classic, not sure who my money is on.

The rule of the 4 wheel of the track was made after hockenheim
