Williams FW36 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

last years testing were with full commercials on their car... this year (and some previous) on testing they use dark blue color.
It isn't always... but it's frequent enough that this isn't a sign to despair.

And so far they seem to be relatively reliable even with the rear end so tight. Well done williams!

What do you mean by cheap?
For a Mid-Field Team I have to say I'm rather a bit impressed. Good packaging, nice and clean Overall design (if you compare it with FI or Caterham or even Sauber- the latter only regarding bulk of the sidepods). Could have been a tiny bit smoother in the central section at the back IMHO but that seems to be their philosophy for a couple of years now. Probably not too much of an issue.
Might have potential to perform not too bad.
Where I'm not so sure if that really works so well is that extreme but tight undercut. We'll see how it will perform over the season.

I dont see it as cheap, lets say it looks less refined than some of the other cars, but this is the first test, it will look better when we start racing.

I like how they've twisted the front wing vertical mountings!

Like the launch car. I posted a clearer pic on the previous page.

Maybe someone has already asked, but I have not seen it, why Williams don't have Mercedes logo on the car?

Williams have stated they are using a dedicated livery for testing and that it will change for the race season. They haven't officially announced the new livery yet though. Probably the Mercedes emblems will appear then?

Force India never had a Mercedes logo on their car and neither did Brawn GP in 2009.

Yes they did.
