Maybe I'm more pessimistic that most, but this does not bode well for Ferrari later in the season. We are only 3 races in and they are already onto the second unit in several categories.

I agree with you, looks like FER will have some penalty in future GP.

As Hamilton's race in Malaysia last year showed us, you can stock up on PU's but if one is going to blow in a race, no one can do anything about it.

That said, Ferrari do seem to have a problem with the ES with constant complains about it in practice.

Why Perez is not right about Mercedes engine power Article about Perez comments that Mercedes engine is only in front of Honda...which is ridiculous

You can't stock up this year, so reliability is at a premium.

It makes me question their reliability, if they are swapping out components that are only at 60% of their minimum reliability requirements.

Repeat after me...

Top speeds have more to do with aerodynamics than with engine power.

The power required to push through drag cubes with speed.

You can infer basically nothing about engine power from top speeds.

It has to do with power and aero...otherwise McLarens wouldn't be at the bottom always, just like Saubers most of the time... despite having less downforce and drag than top cars.

Top speeds aren't precise indicators of engine power, but you can read from in some degree. Nobody said that top speed is clear and definitive answer for engine power classification.

I just read the Team principal complaints. When they complain about engine power it is usually true. When they stop bitching, as Ferrari has since 2015 then you know they are OK. Ferrari has moved on to whinging about Qualifying modes.. so we know they don't have one as good as Mercedes.

That doesn't mean that they can't reuse the replaced components, only that they are using new ones. They could very well calculate how they can get the most balanced use of the individual pieces, and allocate them appropriately. Don't be scared ... yet ;-)

You forgot the part about feeling sleepy.

You can make some conclusions based on top speed, but doesn't tell the whole picture, sometimes a car with more downforce/drag and slightly less power will still be faster at the end of a straight because it carries more speed through the turn which leads on to the straight.

Raikkonen has no chance to win WDC, he can only do his part to help the team win WCC like in 2008. Vettel qualifies better and usually has better race pace, so unless Raikkonen starts outperforming everyone it's going to be a rough year. The same applies to Bottas, as the performance of the two teams is extremely close at the moment, and Hamilton seems to have the upper hand at the moment in Mercedes.

Turbos changed in both cars. Ferrari fnding different way to destruct their campaign. Last season it was a poor car and ever poorer strategies, this season it is the components #-o
