The drag and increased downforce in the cars have become a hindrance on this track for everyone except Ferrari it seems. Very strong showing from Honda, I don't know if this new engine in Gasley's car is an upgrade or what. Maybe they're just running the engines aggressively whereas others are saving them.

Ferrari is doing great.

I still wonder how drivers know where the border of 'doing the pedal to the metal' is without spinning. I would say every driver would spin 4-5 times a free practice to see where they go over the edge. Is a simulator really that good?

Looking a bit one sided but remember the 7 tenths just two weeks ago. The question is was it party mode or was it a monster lap? Ferrari had the pace here last year so maybe the evolution has carried over.

All teams are going easy on the engines in practice I guess, at least the top ones. But how much of a sandbagging would you want to do in the longruns?

Does anyone else agree that the harder tires are the preferred race tires? It just confirms what I saw in testing, the gap between the compounds is just a few tenths, only the ultra and hyper soft tires are a significant enough step. The super soft is barely faster in ultimate performance but wears faster, these new tires are definitely throwing up headaches for the teams

I'm curious about what's gonna happen tomorrow. We will see.

There's very little difference between the soft and super-soft here. Soft looks more consistent, and just as quick, looks to be the better race tyre. The SS are struggling a bit out of heavy traction zones.

Ohh... Kimi just stopped out on track.

Yeah, HAAS really buys parts from Ferrari. Even the poor ones. :)
