Could be an illusion, but does the nose where it joins the sidepods appear to taper outwards more than previous? This photo seems like the nose joins the sidepods almost perpendicular where as this year, they taper outwards, as if it’s “thicker”... no? I think I’m definitely over analysing.

I feel there is a lot of SF70H in the SF90... even more than its from SF71...😏😏

Last year's car was probably the best on the grid so it makes sense to evolve it. If they have moved the performance on then we're in for another decent season at the front.

Intake definitely looks bigger. Presumably this has been done so that the roll hoop inlet can be made smaller along with the bulk of the bodywork behind it. Ferrari have placed their coolers etc in the sidepods only, by the look of it in comparison to the Honda / Renault teams.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Probably it's a stupid question but, why is it good if the engine cover and the engine is smaller? To save weight? Or is it good because of the aero, it means bigger shark fin? The car weight is still limited by the rules. What's most striking is how much the engine cover has been reduced compared to SF71H.

Part of the centerline cooling sytem has been moved back to sidepods IMO (air-air intecooler? no the big ERS/Gbox rad imo), hence the shorter engine cover, smaller central intake, bigger sidepod intakes.

It’s really interesting; Ferrari have made huge packaging gains here but they don’t manifest in smaller sidepods like everyone else - they look much the same (albeit don’t be fooled by black rather than red paint around the sidepod inlet) - instead they have a minuscule roll-hoop inlet (look at it vs the Renault, for example) and less height used for engine packaging (compare shark fins).

As has been mentioned, it all seems to be focused around the new rear wing but it’s the opposite philosophy from pretty much everyone else.

Top 3 are all quite divergent in terms of aero philosophy - fascinating.

It's not a stupid question at all! In fact people tend to refer to the 'packaging' of the rear end. This addresses how tightly can the team put all the cooling and mechanical components inside engine cover. The benefit of having a tighter rear end can be simply put to, less volume due to internals=more volume of air flowing to the rear=more potential downforce to be gained from the diffuser as you just have a shear larger volume of air to work with.

There appears to be a sizeable intake below the roll hoop intake and above/behind the driver's headrest.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

It looks like the T-wing is allready broken in the renderings. Someone digitally bodged it. :D

It helps the air flow to the rear wing, the engine cover this year is lower than last years.
