Merc have done the same as Red Bull did and as long as from front on taking a direct line front to back you only count 5 flaps at any point you are okay (grey area which may get closed).

Couldn't you take this to an extreme and pile on more and more Y250-vortex-generating wing tips by offseting more and more elements?

Wow amazing shot. Is that a shot of a future WDC for 2019 :P

What I don't get is regulations we're changed to reduce downforce so cars.could follow each other better...in a nutshell yet the cars are faster overall!! I don't understand that.

Also why does pirelli keep mucking around with tore pressures all the time?
I read somewhere that these cars actually have more aerodynamic potential because of the larger span of the front and rear wings, but because of the rules regarding the front wing and bargeboards they are more draggy and more difficult to balance from front to rear. Maybe i misunderstood something, or im completely wrong

They would have more potential for pure (standard) downforce being created from the front and rear wings because of the larger surface area, but in reality they have less potential due to having less ability to create vortexes to control airflow around the front of the car (Because of the simple wings). The larger surface area wings, and deeper rear wing, are what is causing the increased drag.

The assumption there would be that such an approach would be beneficial.

Does anyone know why Merc didn't use the new mirrors? They used them only at FP1.

Could be because in FP1 the silver cars drivers were seeing a distorted vision of the cars behind.

Supposedly the barge board wing that was split into three elements is creating vortexes that are helping with the rear tire wake.
