Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

So this car is not only fast, but also built like a fvcking TANK. How the hell the rear suspension arms/driveshaft did not break ??

That was a pretty hefty impact...

Thin wall magnesium wheel broke first, cleanly at the outer spoke attachment region. That may be by design. Also, tire deflection, tire unbeading, and friction from lateral tire motion dissipate portions of the impact energy.

Maybe this photo angle could bring light about the supposed sidepode change for Montreal:

Do also you think the Montreal version looks tighter now? That's what I thought, initially.

Rarely do you get a head-on, rolling shot as good as this.

Thanks! As are those. It's fascinating observing the contact patch at any given moment on any given corner.

Hi, anyone knows if Merc dialed the engine back after the Stroll failure?

I find it odd that Merc still haven't figured out why they are loosing so much on the straights. Engine power used to be their thing until 2018. With their ressources, they should be able to understand how to get back on top of this, no?
This year, we should be okay (big advantage points wise + car for all tracks compared to Ferrari), but if Ferrari rectifies their car for 2020, Merc will end up losing both titles… Lewis simply lost pole due to a lack of engine power compared to seb. Still think (and hope) Merc will have the advantage in the race (strategy, tyre preservation, fuel efficiency, race power of engine)
Mercedes AMG + Hamilton => dreamteam!

Yeah, autosport have alluded to this.

Ok Lewis lost pole because of lower engine modes but what happened to Bottas?

Bottas was compromised after he messed up his banker lap (his first run). He made several mistakes on his second Q3 lap. Bad lines, lock-ups, all the things you can't afford around a relatively short lap.

You need confidence and rhythm around Canada, and after a spin that should've put him in a wall, he probably lost a little confidence.

Hmm, strategy: was worse this race, tyre preservation: the same or a tiny bit better, fuel efficiency: see tyres, race power of engine: Ferrari still better. Merc will be in real trouble once Ferrari gets their act together. The engine difference is just too big! Lewis saved the day once more by pressuring Vettel into a mistake.

Can someone explain what every button there does? I understand some of it, but there are plenty of things I don't.
I don't get what most of the rotary swiches are for, as well as the "Mark" button, the red button with an X, the RS button, and then there are the knobs:
The knob on the right seems to control the engine, so why is there a "Radio" setting for it?
And the knob in the middle, there are a few settings that seem to be for the screen, then there's Brake by wire, Torque? I mean, how does that knob work with so many unrelated settings on it?
