Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Being pedantic, they're not low downforce aero packages, they're low drag aero packages.

But thanks for the pictures. =D> =D>

No problem, I love pedantic people :) But on the other side - is Monaco aero package then high drag package? Or high downforce, as high downforce is desirable there, just as low drag at Monza? I guess you wanna say to use the term which describes what they are trying to achieve with that particular package...

Let's put it this way; At Monza you want to cut drag, but not cut downforce. At Monaco you want to gain downforce, but not drag.

Calling it high downforce or low drag is simply naming their desired effects.

at this point, it's Seb 216, Valtteri 213, Lewis 206. So it looks like a wet setup back-to-back with dry

You could put a vertical board in place of the rear wing. It would very low (zero) downforce but no use at Monza as it's very high drag. If they wanted low downforce then they'd fit a smaller diffuser as well as a smaller frontal area rear wing.

I would say that at Monza they use a low drag setup, at Monaco they use a high downforce setup. As I said, it's being pedantic.

Has anyone seen the new sidepod shape Mercedes have been running. I haven’t got a picture but it’s pretty clear on the tv.

You can really see the shortened uppermost flap chord length here:

Would least negative and most negative CL work?

Really
Monaco is most negative CL
Monza is lowest CD

This is definitely new: *double* serration going on - serrated edge on the main plane and on the back of the flap.

Wonder how many hours go in to finishing parts like that, would surely be sanded and polished by hand.
