Possible illegal aerodynamic device on mobile part of suspension.
i don't know how they ever expected to get away with a duct that soooo obviously goes up and down!! i mean, attached to the hub even, right next to the brake

I think the white blocks may be test equipment to measure tyre deflection or whether the tyre will fowl certain zones under lateral load.

isn't there a duct underneath it? anyway if there is it's a brake duct for extra cooling and not illegal

Apparently the FIA doesn't have an issue with the solution
That is why it is understood that at least one rival team asked the FIA earlier this season for clarification on the matter, to check whether or not it would be allowed to pursue such a design itself.

With the answer coming back that the design was allowed, the door is open for other teams to pursue the idea themselves for 2020.

Because there is no issue. The hole is in the upright, therefore it is not officially considered an extra brake duct. It’s simply a part of the upright design.

It's a smart contravention of the rules. Probably be an FIA directive for next year banning it.

That photo really shows how much longer the wheelbase is now, and how much smaller the ES has gotten.

It's interesting how they keep changing the exhaust manifold year after year.
