pretty awesome for 30s :) I always find it hard to see the differences! But it looks to me like more outwashing cascades, more cape, more aero wishbones, a bit narrower sidepods. And lots of fiddling about with the bargeboards obviously. I do think all the cars have converged, so far, so they're different, but similar

Not just a bit. Completely different layout and geometry. Imho one of the most overhauled parts of the car.

never ceases to amaze me how they're able to build so much aero and functionality out of such a part,
with so minute space between a wheel/tire moving so fast and so close to a rigid object, yet still need to calculate in vibrations, play due to stress and tire movement in high-G corners, and keep things light yet strong.

4 things pop out to me in this comparison.

1. the narrower/tighter bodywork which can be seen very well at the sides of the HALO device,
look how much tighter it is and how much more air can be channeld to the rear.
the amount of 'white' (open space) seems more or less the same but the RB16 has much bigger
suspension fairings, so plays with the eyes.

2. next, the much narrower nose creates much more potential or lets say much less restriction
for the use of 'flaps/cape' 'under' the nose compared to the RB15.

3. third, the interesting nosecone design allows for a much narrower S-duct and as such surely will
improve flow around that area.

4. as mentioned, the gigantic brake ducts at the front, is just staggering compared to the RB15.

lastly there are some other areas, it looks like the sidepod inlets are even smaller then last years.
perhaps it's channeled better, i don't know, but i get the impression it's even narrower,
so cooling must be even less than an issue. then again, this is a comparison of the launch RB15,
and not the AbuDhabi version and i'm not sure whether that area has been altered.

Genius way to reduce drag and speed up flow in the coke bottle area. Take the air from the high pressure space in front of the tyre instead of from the coke bottle area. It even has an upturned cup to take the air spinning down. Great details like these is why I really rate Redbull Highly.

it's much skinnier right behind the sidepods, which are less deep even aswell.
the increased wheel 'aero fairing' at the back and presumably the double rear wing pillars
give the illusion not much has changed but in reality, a lot changed.

you can actually see just how much use they make of that area from the nose on.
the s-duct is narrower, allowing more air to flow over the nose unobstructed,
which then gets guided a lot more compared to last season by vanes on top of the headrest (sides),
aswell as a horizontal vane/fin right below the airbox, which then gets further direction by the
double wing pillars to drive flow and speed towards the rear wheel aero fairings on the suspension.

the fact they have further 'dieted' the bodywork right around the rear of the sidepods indicates even
more airflow is guided there.

i am cartain that this will generate much, much more downforce at the rear and plant the rear even
better on the floor for even higher turning speeds and grip and very much improve balance.

they have very much optimized their use of every little aerodynamics they could get their hands on,
which is RB typical, but its interesting to see just how profound they went.

the Honda engine is going to get pushed to it's limits for 2020, let's hope it copes.

I think my favorite thing in the new car is that tight rear end packaging. It looks just amazing
