What’s the theory behind the RBs going slower vs last year?
Same problem, but on the oil burning side of power unit rule clarification.

Car design changes temperatures and it was only by a minor fraction, unlike the Ferrari engined cars

If I was Ferrari, I would put all recourses into engine development. They need to make big improvements before engine freeze.
No sense in going for upgrades this season anyway. They are over 1 and a half seconds slower than Mercedes and that’s on one of the shortest tracks.

I’ve the feeling Ferrari has the weakest engine now. How’s that even possible? Have they really only put effort into improving their engine trick in last couple of years? What a totally riskful move. Still can’t believe what I’ve just witnessed.
Agreed!!! Yeah Ferrari should just write off '20-'21 and focus on engine and '22 chassis

Almost all of them seemed to be falling foul of track limits on their final runs there, unless it was a trick of the camera. Yet no times deleted when they said it would be so....
The fools at the FIA changed the track limits boundary from the white line to the whole red/white curb. Complete nonsense

I can not follow the logic of the track limits rule. You are on or off. Why all the hassle of some part on the stripes etc rather than if part of a tyre touches the white line it is out, as it is in other sports? As others have said, you are not OK if only half your car is in the wall.
Agree. I saw basically all the drivers going beyond what was supposed to be the defined limit. Pointless. And if that’s the case where do you draw the line with how far one driver can exceed them without a punishment?

The ATs found something though.

Poor start to the yr IMO, I expected much more.

Wow that Mercedes pace on a short track makes you wonder what the gap will be on a longer track, solid lap from Botta's by 0.012, he's under pressure with Seb as a free agent for next year so he needs that.
Mercedes would be mad to put Vettel alongside Hamilton.
Especially since Bottas is better and cheaper

Great homework for Mercedes and McLaren. Ferrari - shame, r.i.p. for 2020-2021 seasons.
BTW, if Ferrari cheated with their engine in 2019 (and not customer teams) , why then Haas and Alfa lost the power as well now? Or they also had cheated engine?
They were ALL powered by the Ferrari PU and it’s the Ferrari PU that’s been nurfed.

Plus they will have the Mercedes PU in 2021.

Today proved again that Ferrari was 100% cheating last year maybe even last couple years...

This is not even a good track for Merc and the result shows they are clearly the team to beat. I cannot see anyone else being a contender for the championship this year.

My take away

-Bottas using some Rosberg tactics

Exactly.. ugly move but whatever... it wont matter at the end of the season or even tomorrow.
