Lightning strikes both Renaults at the start of the race.
Don't know if I can manage that, they will have to be very close together

I've told the boys they have to lead 1-2 after the first lap 'cause the guys on f1technical are sick of the screw ups. There you go.

Now the question is. Last year we gained the upper hand by the middle of the championship in terms being the 4th fastest car after the Silverstone updates. Is there something wrong this year? Was it the leaving of Pat Fry? Was the big hit from the coronavirus?

Same as has already been talked about, factory got put on shutdown with Covid, the silly new token system has screwed the lads over because they need to use it for the engine change so they've been flat out trying to get parts on the car before the FIA deadlines even if they're an actual downgrade in performance with the current aero spec, just to homolagate them. Add in several crashes right at the worst time right when the composites side are already flat out and I'm not sure what most people were expecting.

Other teams are bringing updates to their current packages, Mclaren are bringing updates that might not have the rest of the stuff they need to work somewhat correctly for 3-5 races down the line

On another note Ferrari has done something to improve that much.

is ferrari again leaking oil in ICE to gain speed? They are nowhere now in 4th. Seems some thing they are doing
Yes Ferrari did something smart and very profitable, signing someone called Charles Lecrerc :P

Q2 result:
p5 Lecrerc 1:26.240
p11 Vettel 1:26.738 (+0.498)

Keep in mind Vettel is a 4 times WDC and was considered for some time as one of the big three talents in F1, and specially an awesome driver on saturdays as he was almost unbeateable on qualifying.

Now he look like an average driver at most when compared to Lecrerc. Vettel is still Vettel (not as good as some did assume some years back, but neither an average driver, he´s very good), but IMHO it´s obvious Lecrerc is something really really special who can put a poor Ferrari in 4th, partially thanks to one of the tightest midfields in many years so a special driver can climb many positions with just 1-2 tenths improvement
Leclerc is much better and adaptable and consistent with an average to bad car. In pure pace terms when Vettel and Leclerc both have everything they like in the car there's almost nothing in it. Leclerc pasted Vettel in Spa and Silverstone last year while Vettel did likewise in Suzuka and Canada. The problem is he can't do that regularly anymore and the car isn't in his favour anymore. Leclerc is truly special in his consistency, many drivers have raw speed at certain tracks and situations. That combination of having it almost everywhere and everytime is what sets the great ones apart.

I think Renault is using PU mode tricks. There is no other explanation for this gap.
We all support McLaren here, but do you honestly believe that the only way Renault can beat them is by cheating? You don't think it's possible that Renault with all the money and resources at their disposal actually produced a decent car?
Yeah that's just rubbish. Renault apparently have infrastructure (Wind Tunnel+CFD+Manufacturing+digital framework+simulator) almost on par with Merc and RBR now with more to come according to Pat Fry. Additionally they have got on top of the slim nose concept and Pat Fry made his name as a suspension genius, it would be unreasonable to expect anything other than them making big gains. Luckily McLaren have gains of their own to come via their own adoption of the nose concept and the new Merc engine (with another good step in power rumoured next year). As understanding of the new nose increases gains will follow.
Agreed.
For me Renault last season were the biggest under achievers and bar Ferrari arguably this season too (well the start of the season).

Taking Renaults resources into consideration they should be clear 3rd quickest This season (When Ferrari are struggling) and not battling with Mclaren and Racing Point for 3rd in the constructors.
Just a fan's point of view

Time for the team to have a little bit of good luck... Let’s hope for clean getaways and no issues on the first lap!

A boring drive to 4 and 5 would do nice

Amen to that. We need luck to turn in our favor for once. If it wasn't for that Covid that disrupted our program we could have been 3rd fastest.

That’s all I’m asking for!

Interesting that they changed Norris engine, starting on a new one today

Seems to be on par with Ricciardo and at the moment faster than Perez.

Norris has managed to break DRS to Perez and lapping 1:32 as well as Albon... We need a few laps with a larger Delta to Albon... Albon has slight better pace right now
