What would be against introducing a rule to give 5/6 minutes extra and a new set of reds if the session is redflagged. In the second Q3 run?
If Formula 2 cannot delay Formula 1, then surely Formula 1 cannot delay Formula 2!

Time certain sessions are very important for a tightly packed racing schedule.
Agree. The timetable is the timetable. And you know what’ll happen if they ever actually did this. They’ll do it and the first time it happens Hamilton will get pole on the bonus attempt and this forum will simply implode with how the extra five minutes is a stupid unfair rule and it should be scrapped.

It would prevent any chance of anyone benefitting from an issue. However unfortunate to have it. It would perhaps even prevent them having an issue.
Accidents happen. I don’t think it would be very fair, though I still have a few doubts if this was 100% accidental.
Look, that is why it is a good thing. It will likely not be needed much at all as it removes any potential benefit. As the others will simply have another go while you are out. So it will not be worth it to say, ok, I have pole so I do my next lap on 105%. Especially on these high risk tracks it would Really chance the risk/reward calculation and certainly, if people are left not 100% sure it was an accident, now they always can be.

Flying under the radar after the abrupt end to qualifying... But, how close was Mclaren to pole and P2 today! Unexpected, but showing how fast Lando actually is.

I was considering the same thing. They will crash. This is Bottas race to win with sainz and hamilton on the podium.
Hamilton will find a way some how.

He did a poor job of setting up that car today. Maybe got too exuberant after Thursday's practice but it was clear he had no grip in the car. He probably got too used to race setups and lost out to Valteri on a qualifying setup.

I do not seeing him win this race unless there is a safety car. Even with Rain his chances are slim.
He needs to do damage control and at least try to finish within 7 points of Max.
For Sure!!

If they don't, I expect the back markers with likes of Alonso, Tsunoda, Mazespin and Schumacher to take almost quarter of the field out by turn 1.

I do worry, guy.

I haven’t forgotten leclerc opening laps antics. He took out Vettel in Austria and put Max on the grass in Japan 2018.

Once the bendy wing saga is out, Mclaren should be competitive in race pace as well. Baku could be pole for Norris.

If Max doesn't get ahead at the start he will surely stay out after Charles pits to try and build a gap, Charles's Ferrari will use up it's tyres sooner than RedBull unless the race is run at a relatively slow pace, however if no gap is created to slot back into Charles will come out into traffic, the only saving grace would be the fact that Ferrari heats it's tyres quickly.

On an ideal lap he'd still be a good chunk behind LEC/SAI/BOT/VER. All in all, still a great performance though.

less than perfect car and the 7 time world champion looked like a mid-field driver. no tyre whispering whatsover!
Kind of sounds like you don't really understand what people mean when they say tire whisperer.
does it matter? i perfectly understand the level of expertise people have.
But you show you haven't a clue when judging drivers ability #-o

If Leclerc has damaged his gearbox and it has to be replaced that's a 5 place grid drop and pole position gone. If you were going to crash to end Q3 deliberately that would not be the place to do it. You'd want to stick the front of the car into a barrier with the gearbox area left untouched.

Exactly, just send it in deep at Lowes hairpin. broken front right, no risk of rear end damage as its slow.

People saying it was on purpose are insane!! If Charles done it on purpose, what was Latifi's excuse. His was almost exactly the same. did he crash to stop Schumacher beating his time or something
