So Max basically had this race gifted to him, worse there were no other cars there to challenge him. Congrats, he drove well controlled the race. Gotta take the gifts with both hands as they say.
I was surprised that Merc pitted Lewis at that point, bc he was the first to go onto the hard tire at that point. Lewis was at that point around 15s behind Max, which wasn't a window to pit for Max/Bottas at that point.
But because Lewis pitted, all the cars around him (Gasly, Vettel and Perez) sort of reacted to that and pitted in the next 1-3 laps and that gave Max/Bottas clean air to exit after his pitstop.

Why can’t we have 23?

That snoozefest in on the Calendar for $$$$$$$$ it’s certainly not for racing ideals.
It is a legendary track. Even if it is a snoozefest, it has its place on the calendar. What you are saying is like someone would say that Ferrari should be thrown out or quit, because they are not winning races... Let it go, even if it was boring to watch, the race itself atleast made the championship interesting. It is one race of many in the calendar.
No it really doesn’t have a place in F1 in 2021. 2M wide cars on that track isn’t a race it’s a procession. It’s pointless and an utter waste of a race weekend when we could be at a track where racing can actually take place.

Christ a car with broken engine can win it. I’ve literally seen more overtakes in a traffic jam. #-o

Two poor races from Hamilton in five. It's fair to say that Verstappen is leading the championship in an inferior car. But, expect the narrative to remain that Mercedes is slower!
It’s abundantly clear that the RB was the much faster car around Monaco, given both Max’s and Perez’ pace

For some reason, some can’t understand the concept that the cars are genuinely close, and have their own strengths and weaknesses from circuit-to-circuit.
Touched a little Toto nerve there. Hamilton never got into the weekend. He generally has Bottas covered and Bottas was in Verstappen's range all along. Stop being so sensitive and just accept for once that Max is ahead based on the fact he's made no mistakes. It's not like Red Bull can't win but it seems like they're a tenth or so behind at the moment with worse management.

We need Monaco on the calendar for reasons as what it did to the championship today. It throws a wrench in things and makes things interesting. I get it that the race is not full of action but I always thoroughly enjoy qualifying. And the weekend is never short of drama
No we don’t it’s nothing but a snore fest. It’s the only race I don’t watch until the end because it sends me to sleep.

2.15M wide cars were raced here from 1973 to 1992. :)

Interesting to see that F1 used Indycar style traditional pit paddocks as late as 1992.

Left hand DRIVE SHAFT?!?! why didn't they just change that as standard? can't they change damaged parts providing its not gearbox or PU.
Does make you wonder.
It's silly isn't it? They could have changed it 1:1 but it wasn't on the list of changed parts. It may still come out that it was the gearbox afterall but if not then it was a massive f'up by Ferrari. At least the WDC/WCC is a bit spicier with Max winning - gotta see the positives, even if this might have been Ferrari's only shot at a win this season.
It was driveshaft in to the hub, Binotto said...interesting if so...from that crash, I would expect driveshaft left hand site pops up from the gearbox , not a problem in to the hub site

The reality is that if Liberty F1 was out looking for race venues and Monaco asked to join, the circuit would either be a lot different to what it is currently, or there would not be a race in Monaco. The track is totally unsuited to single-seater cars, and most of the drivers keep their enthusiasm for it well under control. Nelson Piquet described it as like trying to ride a bicycle in your living room, and Gerhard Berger compared it to trying to run a powerboat in a duck pond.

IDK man, Formula E was awesome, it's that the cars are too fast. The faster the car, the faster the reaction time needed. There comes a point that the cars are faster than a person can react to and re-adapt which is ~.5 sec. Bigger tracks give you more time, Monaco, there's 1 line, and your car is too fast for the human brain to adapt in such a narrow place with such narrow margins.

Why did everybody pit for hards? After 30+ laps on softs(and softs at the end of their stints doing better laptimes than new hards), 50 laps on mediums should be ok, shouldn't it?

True I think there was just 1 on track overtake in 78 laps and ironically the race director cut away from it at the worst possible moment #-o
