It was a joke. Btw team couldn't tell him to stay out during formation lap, drivers had to decide themselves whether they pit or not so it's Hamilton's mistake.
Tough call to make from the lead though. All the cars round him had nothing to lose. I’m sure if he was sitting 6-7th he’d have done it. But it has been pointed out more than a few times that there was a strong chance if he did go in, everyone would have passed him in the pit lane anyway, due to the position of his pit box. It was a bit of a lose/lose situation for him.
He'd of been passed by all but maybe a couple of cars, hed of been sat in his box while every car came past, and hed have only past maybe 2 or 3 that were still in their boxes. Alonsos amazing defencive driving cost him the win as much as not boxing did.
Exactly. And TBH it was all worth it for that exquisite Alonso duel. Absolutely magnificent racing from the pair of them. Right on the limit, but completely fair.

Red bull should look into whether Russell stopping warrants a disqualification similar to Seb, should they not?
Maybe they should weigh Verstappen’s car 😂
Maybe Perez should take out Ham next race?

The team should have been aware of the fuel level and asked for some fuel saving from Seb during the race. I guess they were hoping they would pass Ocon and coast to save fuel, but the pass never came.
According to FIA documents the team thought that there is over 1,4 l of fuel left. It is a harsh penalty but these are the rules. Because of the underfuelling it is similar like if Vettel had an underweight car which is quite severe offence.

And the team still thinks that that fuel is there and will try to get it out on Monday - filing an appeal if successful.

If the fuel was there, why did Vettel park ontrack?

Horner is probably knocking up another PowerPoint presentation as we speak.

He's probably got Alex Albon doing a real world simulation in a Honda accord for a direct comparison.

In the interests of fairness, this joke has to end with him emailing it to Masi and calling immediately after.

outlap 1 through the pit lane - 10s
outlap 2 through the pit lane when red bull is behind - 26s
...
Soooo… Redbull chose to bring their cars out as last of the cue and then, while everyone was holding equal distances to each other, Hamilton should give his place in the cue to Verstappen?
Yeah exactly, why don't people even check what actually happened before claiming some outrageous bs?!

It would be even better if he mails some non-existing rule and runs into the office.

Why did Russell have to cede half a dozen places after the re-start?

There wasn’t any convincing explanation, Williams just seemed to take it and moved on, but it was a massive hit. Was he deemed to have overtaken them before the green light went out?

He overtook them in the pitlane, because when a Williams is released out of their box, they go almost straight into the pit exit instead feeding into the row of cars in the fast-lane.

There was a brief mention of him getting out of order in the pitlane (or something). Basically he was out of position and so had to "give back" places he should have had anyway.

He drove to the front of the queue in the pit lane at the restart last a bunch of other cars. He said he wasn’t sure if it was against the rules or not but he didn’t think it was. It was cheeky but opportunist.
