This unit has hoses, is it hydraulic or pneumatic?raymondu999 wrote:New swivel jack for Red Bull? I think they were still using a "traditional" front jack in previous races?
Or maybe they had the wrong aero map for these tires, or spring rate, sway bar, camber curve, etc....Crucial_Xtreme wrote:Yeah I'm pretty much with Owen on this one. I think the flows; exhaust, lateral flow & flow over sidepods were causing problems in the way Newey had them coming together. The new way is more straight forward and probably easier to manage.
This is the best high-res pic I could find.WhiteBlue wrote:We don't seem to have a picture of the current RB8 rear body work?
Its a system based on a manual pallet truck that is seen moving stock arround in a warehouse. It uses hydraulic oil. However the ones that Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull and the rest are using are all on steroids. Usually 1 pumpgives a 8mm to 12mm lift, theese ones in F1 look as if they give ten times that, posibly 80mm to 120mm.hardingfv32 wrote:This unit has hoses, is it hydraulic or pneumatic?raymondu999 wrote:New swivel jack for Red Bull? I'm not so sure about that. They have the exhaust further forward now.raymondu999 wrote:It's the same as the older one - just that the tunnel is now closed off. So basically they have an almost-replica of the Sauber rear end.
My vote would be for the airflow into the tunnel adversely affecting the exhaust flow. Remember they did some flow vis in China specifically in that region and it looked like there was a stagnant region of air around the rearmost edge of the tunnel entrance.hardingfv32 wrote:Or maybe they had the wrong aero map for these tires, or spring rate, sway bar, camber curve, etc....Crucial_Xtreme wrote:Yeah I'm pretty much with Owen on this one. Maybe they had it further forward to create room for the tunnel?WhiteBlue wrote:I'm not so sure about that. Best shot I could get: (so far, anyways)WhiteBlue wrote:We don't seem to have a picture of the current RB8 rear body work?
