Scuderia Ferrari SF16-H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

A bold move from Ferrari, they have had engine problems, and now risk a change that while improve the car's aerodynamics, will also compromise their cooling.

not really Ferrari never had problems with overheating and i'm pretty sure this wasnt a decision taken lightly

I'd like to see another angle of the sidepod to see what effect this has on the undercut near the barge board.

The first pic from Scarbs seemed to show an increase here but was a little tricky to make out.

Saw it on the tv - definitely the decreased cooling outlet creates more space, more of an undercut, at the front of the sidepod.

The underfoot size I think is clear to see when you can find a picture of the front end. I still think there is some more to gain out of the FW and the wash out effect with the blown wheels. From the weekend the biggest aspect they are lacking is not DF but MG. MG will come with more time with the car, as the 16 car is much different from the 15 car mechanically.

it would be nice to know if they are testing anything to solve the tires issue they faced during the week end.

During the installation lap teams usually test opening/closing a few times to check everything works fine.

Sorry that this isn't about the testing days, but I've noticed in a recently released on-board video from Vettel's Ferrari on Race-Sunday that the whole rear wing seems to move a bit down while on the straight and goes up again while breaking:

I thought all Aero-Parts except for DRS aren't allowed to move like that? I am noticing this for the first time (never noticed it like this on another car before) so it does look kind of weird to me.

If you no longer go for the space someone always has to leave, you're no longer a racing driver

I also saw that rear wing bending a few races ago. A bit to much in my eyes.

Not sure if they have a load test on the rear wing. CW will say every wing flexes.

Video is never an evidence for technical infringement unless you are Michelin
