I'm beginning to wonder if they're doing it to add a random vector into the mix, to prevent teams from generating optimized and predictable 1-stop routines.
you mean something along these lines? :D

This sort of behaviour from Pirelli is basically fiddling the odds after watching Friday practise. It is underhand and should be banned as an illegality.

Why did Hamilton just post a lap?

I wasn't able to watch any of the practices so far or go through the forum, but has anyone noticed that the ferraris are running with a huge hot air outlet at the back, while mercs are going with a rather closed up rear?

Extremely tight midfied not to mention they're close to the leading pack. No comfort zone for Q1 nor Q2 everybody has to pump in their best laps.

From the top max speeds we could see that Max on his fastest lap has got a big tow for being 8km/h quicker than Ricci:

Then, is worth to mention how many laps did the first 5 quickest drivers (Max, Lewis, Seb, Ricci and Kimi) when they put their fastest laps at the end of the session: Seb and Ricci did 5, Max 6, Kimi 7 and Lewis 8 ...

Looks like it is going to be a rainy Quali. 60% chance, good precip. Might add for some spice for us tomorrow afternoon.

Pole today and Win tomorrow for Verstappen. Vettel 2nd, and Hamilton rounding out the last step on the podium. That's how I'd script it.
