No Chinese GP after 2010?

It appears that Formula One will enjoy its last race at the Shanghai International Circuit in China in 2010. A senior official declared to news agency 'AFP' that Shanghai is considering not to extend their F1 contract.

The race at the Shanghai International Circuit was added to the F1 calendar in 2004. Now, 4 years later, poor ticket sales and the possibility that title sponsor Sinopec will not renew its contract have left a lot of question marks over the future of the Chinese GP.

Qiu Weichang, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Administration of Sports, said to AFP: "We're doing the assessment. By next year we should be able to give you an answer.

"We want to create a win-win situation, for our side and for Bernie and the F1 organisers as well. If this is something we can do, and our cooperation is very happy and smooth, we will consider it. Of course we would like at least to break even. But there are two factors, one is the assessment the other part is the win-win situation that we can create."
