Work gets underway at Donington Park

The highly anticipated revamp at Donington Park has finally gotten underway this weekend, after an approval late last week that gave the circuit access to £100 million . The approval and the recently started construction may finally cut the British circuit some slack, after many key figures in the sport have voiced their disbelief about whether it will be ready on time to host the 2010 British GP.

"Groundwork is first, but the first big change will be the tunnel. We are going to have a new tunnel between Coppice and McLeans, an HGV tunnel, and that will be started today and completed by February 20," said Donington Park CEO Simon Gillet to our colleagues at 'autosport'.

Gillet also added that work on the pit and paddock areas is next, with the complete buildings possibly being ready in time for the MotoGP event this summer.
