Poor results led to their decision to quite - Ecclestone

Formula One boss Bernie Eccleston is surprised that the BMW Group has decided to call their Formula One operation quits, after having spoken to motorsport director Mario Theissen recently. Ecclestone says the team was in conflict because they were definately committed to winning Formula One championships, but their current eighth place position in the team standings was far from what they expected.

Speaking to the 'BBC radio', Ecclestone said, "It appears it's not quite been like that, so perhaps that's why they've chosen to stop. When you consider how much money they've spent and the results they've got, it's probably not such a good investment."
