The new Midland team will give Russia's Roman Rusinov his first Formula One test next month in Jerez. Rusinov, who has been driving for Russia in the A1 Series, said he was hoping the test drive would be the start of a long-term career in F1.

Roman Rosinov "It would not be an exaggeration to say that I have been waiting my entire career for this."

Midland will become Formula One's first Russian team nex year after receiving their licence from Moscow authorities.

"This test is the first but crucial step on my way to F1. At this point, my aim is to learn the peculiarities of a F1 car and familiarise myself with the way the team works. My arrival in F1 depends on numerous factors, but the most important thing for me right now is to concentrate on driving the car quickly and properly. I believe I have shown this ability throughout my career and I am positive that I will perform well this time."

Nicky Pastorelli has been confirmed as Midland's official test driver for 2006.
