Early retirement in ROC for Albers

Saturday evening's Race of Champions ended early for Christijan Albers. In the 1/8 finals Albers faced four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon. During the race Albers showed his competitiveness by being faster than the US driver, but when the gearbox locked Albers crashed the buggy car into the tyre walls unfortunately.

It was an unfortunate early end to Albers' first Race of Champions in Paris. "It was a fantastic day here. The fans were great and so is this track," said Albers about the special event in ‘Stade de France'. "I think I was ahead of Gordon half-way our race, but all of a sudden my gearbox locked up and I crashed straight into the tyre wall. It's very unfortunate but part of racing…"

"Hopefully I can try it again next year!" concluded Albers.

Next week Christijan Albers will be back in action again. At Jerez, Spain, Albers will make his debut for Midland F1Racing.
