Monza to fight back

The Directors of SIAS (the company that manages the Monza circuit) responded to a complaint made by a group of frustrated citizens, unhappy about the noise levels in the vicinity of the famous Italian track.

A court decision now supports the group’s complaint and the 2006 Italian Grand Prix could be in jeopardy, the noise generated by the Formula One cars could lead to the cancellation of the race. SIAS is fighting back with a formal appeal, based on five arguments that include, among others: errors in measuring noise levels and the omission to consider the specific laws that apply to airports and autodromes.

Hopefully the conflict will be settled in time for next year’s Italian Grand Prix, which is scheduled on the 2006 calendar for 10 September 2006.
