Lucas Di Grassi emerged as the winner of this weekend’s fourth International Challenge of Go-Kart Champs, the event organised by Felipe Massa at the Arena Sapiens, in Florianapolis, Brazil. The Virgin Racing driver won the first race at the end of a very closely contested battle with the man in charge, Massa, who finished second and pole man Antonio Pizzonia.

Di Grassi picked up the winner’s twenty five points which was enough to give him the title, even though he had to retire from race 2. The second race produced an unexpected win for the only woman in the tournament, the Indy Car League youngster Bia Figueredo. She started from eleventh place and managed to finish ahead of Rubens Barrichello and Felipe Giaffone. Combining the results of both races saw the title go to Di Grassi, with the silver and bronze placings going to Massa and Barrichello respectively.
