Webber on top in final practice

Mark Webber went quickest in the closing stages of third free practice, the final session before qualifying for the Singapore GP. McLaren's Jenson Button was second while Sebastian Vettel was blocked in traffic and ended up with the 3rd fastest time.

After the usual installation laps, there was little engine silence before Jérôme D'Ambrosio took the track to set a laptime. His attempt proved remarkably competitive as he ended up still ahead of HRT and Toro Rosso at the halfway mark of the session.

Jenson Button by that time had taken the lead, a massive 1.690s ahead of Nico Rosberg. Adrian Sutil is third on the timing board, another second down. Michael Schumacher set the fourth fastest time, but was unhappy as he was held up during another attempt by Pastor Maldonado.

Just past halfway, Ferrari and Red Bull also joined the action, benefiting from a rather quiet moment on the track. Vettel quickly ends up on top again, posting a 1:47.064, ahead of Schumacher, Alonso, Webber and Button.

9 minutes from the end, Alonso is out on track with a set op options. He posts purple sectors, scratches the wall but ends up 6 tenths quicker than Vettel. Button goes for a similar lap and improves Alonso's time another 3 tenths.

Webber does even better one minute later, while Hamilton moves up to 5th after cratching his car's floor badly by running over the troubled curbs on turn 7.

Vettel's first attempt was hampered a bit by traffic while his second attempt was simply too slow to improve on his 3rd fastest time.

This puts Webber atop the timesheet, ahead of Button and Vettel.
