Kubica gets behind the wheel

Today, Robert Kubica celebrated his track debut for the BMW Sauber F1 Team. The Polish driver completed a total of 61 laps in the Sauber C24B interim car. Nick Heidfeld was on duty at the wheel of the new BMW Sauber F1.06.

On the third day of testing in Barcelona for the team, conditions were once again ideal. Sunny skies and temperatures reaching 15 degrees Celsius enabled Nick and Robert to work on the scheduled programme. On his first day in the interim car Robert concentrated mainly on getting used to all systems and making
some minor set-up adjustments.He covered 61 laps and achieved a personal best time of 1:20:042 minutes.

Nick continued the development work in the BMW Sauber F1.06. The German did two more laps more than his team-mate, clocking a best lap time of 1:17:036 minutes. Nick worked on the set-up of the car. In addition, the team did some aerodynamics evaluations. Felipe Massa (Ferrari) was the fastest driver of the session. The Brazilian set a lap time of 1:15:692 minutes. Tomorrow Nick and Robert will complete the four-day test.
