Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne said that the team embarked on a new journey and he promised to raise the bar of competitiveness even more next year.

Ferrari has gone through a difficult period since 2009 with results fluctuating from year to year and from race to race. This era was then topped by the disastrous 2014 campaign where Ferrari failed to win a race and scored only a couple of podium finishes.

Over the winter, however, sweeping changes were made. In came a series of new people in the wake of the divorces with Fernando Alonso, Luca di Montezemolo, Luca Marmorini, Nicholas Tombazis, Hirohide Hamashima, Stefano Domenicali and Marco Mattiacci.

Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne decided to take over the control over the Scuderia personally. Over the course of the Italian GP the president declared that the team has been working very hard on the 2016 challenger.

"This year, the new car was not quite ready for the season,” added Marchionne.

According to him it was too late to implement serious changes in the design of the 2015 car after the the dismission of key personnel. For next year, however, the team had the time needed to start a new concept. Ferrari also raised the budget available for the Formula 1 department.

"So we started on the new car very early and have invested more resources.”
