Renault teams up with DMG

The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team is pleased to announce a new Official Supplier agreement with DMG, the world's leader of machine tools for milling and turning. The new machines, deployed both at Enstone and Viry-Châtillon, will provide the Renault F1 Team with the most up-to-date and advanced internal machine shop technology in Formula 1.

"Our goal for 2004 is to fight more consistently with Ferrari, Williams and McLaren and prepare to push for the championship in 2005," confirms Managing Director Flavio Briatore. "In order to achieve this, we have completed a comprehensive restructuring of our resources and a re-evaluation of the machine tools at our Technical Centre."

Operations Director John Mardle commented….

"We wanted versatility and we knew that the DMG machines would be able to cope with components as we might need to produce. We also wanted to be able to look a few years down the line and have the confidence to know that the machines would still meet our needs. On top of all that, the DMG machines provided us with the speed and cycle times that we required."

The components manufactured by the Renault F1 Team are typically complex and thin-walled, with materials varying from metal matrix composites and titanium alloys through to carbon fibre and high specification nylons.

"DMG had the synergy with Formula One values we need from partners to help us win the World Championship," concluded John Mardle. "Quality components equal reliability on track, and that is essential."
