Norris says “Qualifying is not coming my way” after another disappointing final Q3 lap

Having failed to qualify inside the Top 3 for today’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, McLaren driver Lando Norris reckons he can’t offer an explanation for his current qualifying woes.
On the back of a stellar season in 2024, Lando Norris finds himself 16 points behind his team-mate Oscar Piastri after the first six races of the season.
Although Norris had topped the opening segment of qualifying, he ended up only fourth fastest in Q3 while his team-mate secured his third career pole position.
"Never good enough in my final lap in 'quali. Everyone goes quicker and I always go slower,” Norris started his assessment.
“I'm not going to just blame the car. That's not me. I felt good all weekend. I felt good in Q1 and Q2. I felt like there's lap time available.
"But when I try and go for lap time, it just doesn't go. Clearly, there's a lot of things changed from last year. In my whole career, qualifying has been my biggest strength by a long way. This year, it's just not coming my way."
Pushed on to reveal what has caused the issue on his final qualifying lap, Norris was unable to offer an exact explanation for his current woes.
"Same answer as every weekend, I think it's a regular thing. I feel better until I get to it [Q3], I obviously just need to work on it a lot, it's just not good enough."
