Tsunoda expects "interesting weekend" at Barcelona given the regulation change

Having failed to score any points at last weekend's Monaco Grand Prix, Red Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda is expecting an interesting weekend at Barcelona, suggesting that the tweak to the technical regulation might have an effect on pecking order.

Red Bull’s Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda started from P12 on the grid at last Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix.. Although the Japanese driver benefitted from an early virtual safety car interruption as he made a "cheap" pit stop, tactical games saw him spend the majority of the race in traffic.

The Sagamihara-born driver extended his second stint, waiting for a red flag or SC intervention, but he ultimately finished outside the points, bringing his Monaco weekend to a disappointing end.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, Tsunoda is expecting an interesting weekend at Barcelona, suggesting that the tweak to the technical regulation might have an effect on pecking order.

"We knew Monaco was going to be challenging after Qualifying and ultimately it was a very long weekend for us. But my focus is now on Spain and delivering a good result at this circuit.

"I like racing in Barcelona, I like the track here, and I like the Spanish food here! This is a track all the drivers know well, we have done a lot of laps here in testing previously, and with the regulations changes it could make this weekend interesting.

Tsunoda continued: "We’re hoping to be more competitive on this type of track, with the mix of corners and the long main straight and I’m looking forward to seeing how we match up. It’s been a busy few weeks but it’s been nice to be back in front of European fans and closer to home.

"Hopefully as a Team we can put it all together and get a good result in Barcelona to finish the triple header positively," concluded the Japanese
