Alonso praises Aston Martin for having made inroads since Miami

On the back of another strong qualifying showing at the Spanish Grand Prix, Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso has praised the Silverstone-based outfit for having achieved big improvement since the Miami race.
Fernando Alonso did not look particularly strong on Friday, but whatever the Spaniard made with his car worked. The Spaniard progressed into the last segment of qualifying with an impressive lap in Q2.
Alonso then came out midway through the final part of qualifying, opting for clean air over track evolution and wound up 10th as he chases his first points of the year.
Reflecting on his qualifying day on home soil, Alonso noted: "It's been a good weekend so far, and getting into Q3 shows we are in the fight for points. It's the third consecutive Q3 for us so I'm pleased with that.
"We've made some progress since Miami where we were fighting at the back and Barcelona is always a true test. It shows our update package has given us a step forward.
Singing off with a word for the support from his home crowd: "Hopefully we can finish the job tomorrow, especially here at home in front of this amazing support.”
