Renault F1 Team to test at Jerez

The Renault F1 Team will conduct a three-day test session this week at Jerez in southern Spain. The team will be represented by 2007 race driver Heikki Kovalainen on all three days. The second car will be driven by Jose Maria Lopez on the first day, and Giancarlo Fisichella on the second and third.

World Championship leader Fernando Alonso had been scheduled to test on Thursday and Friday. However, Alonso bruised his knee while driving during the Monza weekend. In order to allow him to fully recover prior to the final leg of the championship, the team has decided to rest him from the testing programme this week.

This week’s testing programme will once again focus on intensive chassis and engine development, as well as a substantial tyre development programme with Michelin, building on the extremely competitive performance of the French manufacturer’s products in last weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.
